TECHNET MID-AMERICA 2008
Distribution Visibility and Data Availability for the Warfighter
Gateway Convention Center
Collinsville, IL (About 20 minutes away from St. Louis)
July 22-23, 2008
About the Conference
This year we are partnering with the AFCEA to better serve the distribution community through a combined agenda of distribution technology discussions and forums. This is the ninth TechNet Mid-America Conference and is sponsored by the Scott-St. Louis Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) Chapter and the Scott-St. Louis National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) Chapter. The conference provides an excellent educational forum for government employees in the Mid-America area to learn about the latest and most pertinent subjects they are facing.
This year’s conference theme, "Distribution Visibility and Data Availability for the Warfighter" evokes several important concepts. The first of these is that we need to leverage knowledge using information technology to provide real time visibility into the distribution process, compress the decision cycle, and empower smarter decisions for our warfighters. The DoD’s need for operational readiness, mobilization, and war-fighting capabilities are extreme. We must be on track to provide our warfighters with more effective support that allows them to see where their critical requirements are in the distribution process so they can plan and fight accordingly. Our conference also recognizes that we need to provide the warfighter with secure access to all relevant information needed for mission success. These needed elements for operational readiness must be continuously available.
Our distinguished keynote speakers, panelists and presenters will share their vision of an emerging front for the integration of technologies and distribution concepts to improve the warfighters’ situational awareness, allowing the quick access, integration and display of large sets of data. The keynote presentations will be given by the following distinguished speakers: GENERAL NORTON A. SCHWARTZ, Commander, U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; LIEUTENANT GENERAL MICHAEL W. PETERSON, Chief of Warfighting Integration and Chief Information Officer, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force; MAJOR GENERAL ROBERT H. McMAHON, Director of Maintenance, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Installations and Mission Support, Headquarters U.S. Air Force; and Mr THOMAS EDWARDS, SES, Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G4, Headquarters US Army.
Also featured are the following targeted panel discussions led by talented government and industry leaders: AIT Panel, Cyber Threat Panel, and Cyber Panel. Breakout sessions will cover a wide range of relevant topics, such as Supply Chain Management, Logistics Transformation, Wireless information Sharing and Technologies, WAN Optimization, Cyber Crime and Digital Forensics, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and other topics. TechNet Mid-America 2008 will showcase more than 90 IT and logistics exhibitors.
