CERT
CERT (Community Emergency Response Teams)
The CERT concept was developed in 1985 when disasters within the City of Los Angeles convinced officials that citizens would very likely be on their own during the early stages of a disaster. CERT provides basic training in disaster survival and rescue skills that would improve the ability of citizens to survive until first responders or other assistance could arrive. With this training, you will be able to do the greatest good for the greatest number of citizens after a disaster, while protecting yourself from becoming a victim.
The CERT program is managed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Local FEMA representatives provide a 20 hour classroom training course for volunteers within the local area. This course is normally given over 2 or 3 days.
Contact NDTA representatives listed on this web page to volunteer for a class; additional information will be provided to you as the class date approaches.
If you are already CERT trained, or would like to attend a CERT class, contact Paul Kozak
