NDTA INTERNATIONAL CHAPTER OF THE YEAR - 2008
The Scott-St Louis Chapter is recognized as the NDTA International Chapter of the Year, 2008, Large Category, for their outstanding service to their local community, the NDTA and the United States. This year the Scott-St Louis Chapter had various community service projects to help support worthy causes within the community. Through their fund raising efforts they were able to donate $10,000 to help finance the construction of the Saint Louis Fisher House to support the families of Veterans Administration service recipients while they are hospitalized at the Jefferson Barracks facility. Through their association with the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association and their interaction with United States Transportation Command J5/4’s Distribution Academy and the Joint Logistician Training Program, they co-sponsored the TechNet Mid-America Conference to provide basic logistics training and professional development activities as well as provide an opportunity for cross communications with functional logistics and technology providers. Also, their A-35 committee designed, funded, and created a recreation room in the Scott Air Force Base Aeromedical Staging Facility to support those men and women who have been injured during their service in Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan.

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD - Tara Feilmeier
Ms. Tara Feilmeier has distinguished herself in the performance of her assigned duties with SRA International Corporation and as a volunteer with the Scott-St. Louis Chapter of the National Defense Transportation Association. Through her foresight as the Assistant Programs Chairperson, she aptly controlled the dynamics of the monthly agenda while smoothly and efficiently coordinating activities. Tara is also an active A35 member as she assisted the set up our Mentor Protégé field trip to the Tri-City Port District and Gateway Commerce Center on the Mississippi River. This provided us an opportunity to see a multi-modal facility in action and to learn about the particulars of being within a free trade zone and what that means to businesses and government alike. Although Tara has significant responsibility already in the chapter, she was very active in supporting the design, funding and creation of the aeromedical staging facility (ASF) adopt a room project. She took a leadership role on the project by helping ask for and collect donations in the area. Overall they collected more than $5000 to support this project. She helped turn a small area within the hospital into a modern recreation room that will be an opportunity for the patients to enjoy a warm, hospitable environment during their stay in the hospital. Based on these and other contributions to the NDTA, Ms Feilmeier is truly deserving of the recognition provided by the awarding of the National Defense Transportation Association’s Distinguished Service Award.

Ms. Cheryl Heimerman has distinguished herself in the performance of her assigned duties with MITRE Corporation and as a volunteer with the Scott-St. Louis Chapter of the National Defense Transportation Association. As the leader of the Awards Committee for the past 2 years, Cheryl has done a great job in recognizing our membership for various different awards. She has worked to make sure they met all the requirements of the NDTA Awards Pamphlet and she also has edited every one of the submissions to ensure the quality we need to become winners. As a non-golfer, Cheryl felt there was a better way for our Chapter to meet the needs of our scholarship demands as well as our new donation cause, the St Louis Fisher House. After last year’s golf fund raising event, she took up the challenge to design an opportunity for everyone to be able to participate in the fund raising activities. She developed the Triple Tee Club that is designed for people to be recognized for their individual charitable donations that could help support our causes. Through her efforts we were able to collect an additional $3000 of untapped proceeds to support our charitable events.
