CPR Training using Chapter Funds

The Disaster Preparedness office has received permission from the Board of Directors to provide a limited number of slots for Red Cross sponsored Adult CPR and AED classes.  This is a unique opportunity to get specialized training….and have someone else pick up the tab!!

The Red Cross now has two ways to select and sign up for classes.  The first is an on-line system that can be found at www.redcrossstl.org.  Go to the “Take a Class” button at the very top of the page (right under the American Red Cross logo) and follow the directions.   You will be asked to provide a convenient zip code and a data and mileage range, and viola, a list of classes will be displayed.  Here is the first word of caution….you are looking for the Adult CPR/AED class that costs $70.00.  Yes, prices have gone up from last year and in the interest of offering as many slots as we can,  we must restrict your choice to this one class.  You will note that classes are available about once or twice a month from most locations, and are available at Scott AFB, Fairview Heights, and locations within St Louis.  Click on the right buttons for information about the training, to sign up, and for Google map-based directions to each site.

We will be running the program from now until 31 December 2011, or until available funds are used.  Due to the price increase, we can only offer training to the first fifteen (15) members who sign up.  More cautions and stipulations here:  (1) Chapter members only, and unfortunately that does NOT include your immediate family members (if they are interested, you will have to pay for them on your own); (2)  you MUST inform Paul Kozak that you have been confirmed in a class (that helps in the accounting and counting departments); and (3) to get reimbursed, you MUST provide registration confirmation (to include a copy of your bill or payment record), AND a copy of the completion certificate or card you will receive at the end of the class.

I mentioned that there are two ways to sign up for course.  The second is to call The Red Cross at 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) and select Option 5 from the menu selections.  You will actually talk to a human being…a service representative who will guide you through the process!!!  There is one benefit to this phone option; if you are going to take the class at the Scott AFB Red Cross facility (near the parade grounds), we can get a $10.00 discount on the cost.  Simply use the code 25380SAB during your conversation and the cost is lowered to $60.00.  Of course, you must have access to the base in order to take advantage of this offer!).

Take a look at what is offered and sign up soon!!  First come, first served.  Contact Paul at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to reserve your slot.
