Scholarship Recipients

Our Chapter raises funds for scholarships through the Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament and 50/50 drawings at the monthly luncheons. We are proud to announce our winners below:

2011 Scholarship Winners

Colonel Robert Miles Memorial Scholarship ($3500)

• Plans: Attends Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS
• Essay abstract: Addressed the use of efficient light design to reduce power requirements of transportation vessels and its infrastructure

• Essay abstract: Addressed how she hopes to contribute to improved safety of transportation assets through new design and use of new materials.

• Essay abstract: Addressed the futuristic world of self-repairing overpasses and car panels that self repair after an accident through the use of nanomaterials and/or shape memory materials.

General John Stanford Memorial Scholarship

• Plans: Continuing education at DePaul University, Chicago, IL and graduating with a degree in Biochemistry
• School activities: Honors Student Government; Alpha Phi Sorority; Catholic Campus Ministries
• Community activities: Volunteer Soup Kitchen, Caroling for a cause, Canned Food Drive, Organized Piano Recital for Soup Kitchen, DePaul Community Service Day, Entourage Community Service Club.
• Essay abstract: In her field of Biochemistry she will focus on developing environmentally friendly, green technology to support the growing needs in the logistics and transportation areas. This new field will promote reduced waste, reduced energy consumption and use for industry and consumers alike.

• Essay abstract: Designing energy efficient intermodal transportation hubs that streamline logistical transfer from mode to mode through the use of new technology.

By integrating powerful marketing strategies with an efficient supply chain we can increase product awareness and expand the overall customer base even in this shrinking market space.
